How’d We Get Here?
After a couple of decades building and operating early stage companies, I realized my highest and best use had actually become helping other entrepreneurs find the end zone. Some of this could take place through long term relationships, built principally through board seats. But things really came into focus when I saw how the deal-making and M&A work I found so energizing later in my career could be such a difference-maker for entrepreneurs. Why? Because Founders and CEOs work so hard to create something meaningful, but often don’t have the experience to confidently take it the last mile alone. So I created Epistrata as a platform where, entrepreneur-to-entrepreneuer, we can create great outcomes together.

Dave was a long-time software entrepreneur and founder who defined new markets across a wide range of internet and enterprise technology sectors. His deep experience and success with the critical company transitions of fund raising, acquisitions and strategic exits led him to start Epistrata, where he works with entrepreneurs to help them achieve similar outcomes.
Dave’s career as an entrepreneur has been complemented with roles on the investor side of the table as a Venture Partner with Austin Ventures and as an Executive Partner with Teakwood Capital, a boutique private equity company.
He is an experienced board director for companies of all stages and sizes — including a multitude of start-ups, public companies, joint ventures, international subsidiaries and non-profits.
Dave earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and received his undergraduate degree from Furman University.
